HISTORY
The house is an old house in Oberlin, Ohio.  We are unable to determine
the actual date the house was built.  The earliest records of the house are
from 1900, but the house is believed to have been built sometime in the
1800’s.  The current owners of the house state they believe the house to be
part of the Underground Railroad.  Lorain County has records on the
houses they believe to be part of the Underground Railroad but the address
was not listed in that directory.  The house has had multiple additions.  We
could not find any records of any events happening at the house.
REPORTED PHENOMENA
The current residents of the home have reported many different things at
the home.  Reports of the sound of someone running in the closet between
two of the upstairs bedrooms.  They reported they have seen a shadow
figure looking out the windows at them.  There are reports of a shadow
person in the upstairs bathroom and also the bathroom door has been
slammed shut.  In the main floor of the house, the residents claimed that
furniture had been moved from one side of the room to another.  Also the
current residents have had a fear of going down into the basement, and
had not been down since moving into the home in October of 2006.
THE INVESTIGATION
We arrived at the home at 10:30 PM and one of the residents took us on a
tour of the home and told us of some of the events that have happened at
the home.  After we setup the camcorders in the home, we started our
investigation at 11:30 PM getting the base line readings for all the rooms
in the home.  Camcorders were setup in the basement, in the main floor
living room, and upstairs bedroom looking into the bathroom.  An analog
and a digital voice recorder was set in the closet between 2 of the upstairs
bedrooms.  At 12 AM we started our main investigation in one of the
upstairs bedrooms.  We stayed in that room trying to communicate with
someone till 1:20 AM.  From 2:00 AM till 2:30 AM we went down into the
basement.  At 2:45 AM we returned to the upstairs bedrooms.  At 3:30 AM,
we wrapped it up and headed home.
THE RESULTS
We decided not to use our EMF detector because we found the house
seemed to have very old wiring down in the basement.  We figured that if
it was like that in the basement, the whole house would be the same.  We
did not find anything in the digital photos, but we are waiting on the
development of the 35mm photos.  The voice recorders also did not seem
to capture much of anything.  Sound did carry very well in the old house
and we could hear when we were in the basement on the voice recorders
in the upstairs.  Also there was a lot of traffic on the streets and many
people walking up and down the streets of this little college town.  It was
graduation weekend while we were there and there were many parties
going on around the home.  Also the camcorders did not seem to capture
any evidence.  We did have some interesting results with the Geiger
counter in the upstairs bedrooms.  When we would ask questions, trying
for EVP’s, the radiation meter would raise and lower, 1-5 roentgens per
hour, from the baseline reading.
OUR CONCLUSION
We did not have any luck the night we were there capturing any evidence.
LEGHS has agreed to come do another investigation of the house in a few
weeks after most of the college students have left the town.  They hope to
have some better results with the outside environment being much more
quite.  We would like to thank the residents and LEGHS for letting us come
up and help them during the investigation.
