We strongly support the restoration and preservation efforts of the Mansfield Reformatory, and other historic
buildings as well. We encourage you to try to help save these locations, haunted or not. The most fun way of
helping to preserve the Mansfield Reformatory is by attending a tour and/or ghost hunt at the prison. The
Ghost Hunt is by far the best way to see it as you are pretty much given free roam of the building from 9pm to
6am. Sure, it costs $50 a person and you have to be over 21, but its worth it. You are provided with a tour of
the building that starts at 8 and goes how ever long your tour guide takes, usually an hour to an hour and a
half. You are provided with pizza, cookies, and chips around 11pm and there is free bottles of pop, water, and
also hot chocolate and coffee. There is a gift shop open as well. They have really neat items there, such as
photos of the prison from when it was open, tin bowls that were actually used by prisoners in solitary
confinement, t-shirts and sweatshirts, and lots more fun things like handcuffs and bumper stickers that state
"Ghost Hunters Do It In The Dark." Alot of older buildings are doing similar preservation programs, especially if
they are said to be haunted. There is Eastern State Pen in PA, Moundsville Pen in WV, Waverly Hills
Sanitarium in KY, and many more.
